Federal Ministry of Family Affairs, Senior Citizens, Women and Youth, Berlin
responsibility from a single
For the first time in Germany, the government awarded an externally office with the overall project leading and management for an extensive Ministry Building. The heart of the Ministry of Family, Seniors, Women and Youth in close proximity to Friedrichstraße is represented by a new conjunctive building in the patio area, which connects the entire property in the neighborhood of Jägerstraße, Glinkastraße and Taubenstraße into one functional unit. During the reconstruction of the adjacent buildings their different architectural styles have been considered and integrated.
DIEDERICHS’ feasibility studies were highly relevant concerning the project decision to demolish the former prefabricated building and to erect a high-quality new construction at Glinkastraße.
In addition to offices and a cafeteria that is open to the public, a conference centre and a day-care facility for children have been integrated into the building.
Only 4 months were needed to submit all approval documents according to the predefined standards, in due time, and in line with the quality requirements. This short term is the result of a constructive and focused cooperation of all participants, continuous and contemporary flow of information and the decision power delegated to DIEDERICHS as part of our holistic project management approach.
The construction phase started in October 2006 and the building could be handed over to the client in December 2009.
