Beisheim Center at Potsdamer Platz, Berlin/Germany
from the finest
Creating this epitome of upscale urban development – an area featuring a 5-star-plus Ritz-Carlton hotel and a 4-star Marriott hotel, two office buildings with combined floorspace of approx. 13,000 m², and 50 apartements with high-end equipment –is a high challenge within a short time. With limited procedure for calling in expert opinion at the beginning of 2000, the project was initialised by Prof. Otto Beisheim, the founder of the Metro group.
To meet the high client demand, within the realisation time of 42 months from the point the contract was awarded, it was necessary to strongly overlap the construction processes. The use of the finest quality construction materials are typical for this project. The railroad tunnel being constructed under the buildings and also the neighbouring, 100-year old rapid transit railway tunnel required unusual static and sound-related technical measures.
In a ceremonial inauguration, the hotels were delivered on their due date of 3rd January 2004, coinciding with Prof. Otto Beisheim’s 80th birthday anniversary. The luxury apartments will be finished one by one, on an individual basis, after a buyer’s purchase completion.
